چکیده

Background and Aim: This study aims to evaluate the frequency of adjacent segment disease (ASD) its risk factors following posterior decompression fusion in lumbar degenerative disorders. Methods Materials/Patients: retrospective cohort was performed by reviewing records patients with spinal degeneration disorders who underwent surgery needed reoperation from 2013 2019. The participants were divided into two groups, including ASD non-ASD patients, compared terms age, sex, BMI, smoking, level, surgical indications, follow-up times, laminectomy, cross-link device usage, imaging findings, terminating L1, L5 S1, reoperation. Results: Out a total 277 candidates, 181 met inclusion criteria. In gender distribution, 43.3% male 56.7% female. median age 54 years group 48 group. six five Forty (22.1%) developed during this period. final analysis showed significant relationship between indication for reoperation, repeated surgery, use, L1. Conclusion: High body mass index, aging, canal stenosis, laminectomy at upper unit, stenosis imaging, L1 vertebrae are considered ASD.

Adjacent segment degeneration following spinal fusion for degenerative disc disease.

Fusion has become the standard of care for numerous pathologic conditions of the spine over the past 50 years. Instrumented thoracolumbar fusion for adolescent and adult spinal deformity has enjoyed great success in arresting the progression of and correcting scoliotic deformity. In the cervical spine, decompression and fusion have provided a greater than 90% likelihood of relieving radicular s...

Risk factors for predicting symptomatic adjacent segment degeneration requiring surgery in patients after posterior lumbar fusion

BACKGROUND Although measures to reduce and treat degenerative changes after fusion are discussed, these are still controversial. METHODS A retrospective study was conducted on a consecutive series of 3,799 patients who underwent posterior lumbar fusion for degenerative lumbar disease between January 1999 and January 2009. A total of 28 patients with symptomatic adjacent segment degeneration s...
